Questions we hear before every job

My PC is 6 years old. Is it worth fixing or should I just buy a new one?

Depends on what's wrong. A new SSD and 8GB of RAM ($120–$180 total, installed) will breathe years of life into a healthy 6-year-old PC. But a failing motherboard or CPU usually isn't worth it. We diagnose first and tell you honestly — we don't get a commission on new computers.

Will I lose my files if you reinstall Windows?

No. Before any reinstall we copy your Documents, Pictures, Desktop, Downloads, browser profiles, and any data folders you point us to onto a separate drive. After the install we put everything back. We also reinstall your common software and put your printers and Wi-Fi back exactly as they were.

Do you charge if you can't fix the problem?

No fix, no fee. If we genuinely can't solve it, you don't pay a diagnostic charge. The exception is hardware we ordered specifically for the job — we explain those costs in writing before purchase.

How long does a virus removal usually take?

Most modern malware can be removed in 60–90 minutes over a remote session. Heavier infections — rootkits, ransomware, fake-AV bundles — can take 2–4 hours including the offline scan and the post-cleanup hardening pass. We always quote a flat rate upfront, never hourly.

Can you work on Macs? I've heard most repair shops are Windows-only.

Yes — every one of our senior technicians is Mac-fluent. We handle macOS reinstalls, Time Machine, FileVault, Apple ID lock-outs, kernel panics, and the post-Sonoma quirks. For deep board-level repairs we partner with an Apple-authorized lab.

Is a remote session safe? I'm worried about someone seeing my files.

Yes. We use an end-to-end encrypted remote tool that you initiate from your side — we can't connect unless you click "allow." You can see what we're doing the entire time, and you can end the session with one click. We never store screen recordings or file copies after the session ends.
